Here please find the things to know about the race – digital.:
NEW: The Cologne Marathon app is available!
Finally our Cologne Marathon app is available in App and Google Play Stores free of charge! Runners and spectators can both look forward to it!
Besides marathoners and half marathoners, the app can for the first time also be used by relay teams!
Some features are already operational now, further will follow on the race weekend. Be excited about it!
Functionalities at a glance:
- Runners: track yourself via chronometry, optionally track more accurate with GPS, challenge other runners, post before and after the race on social media, check results, watch live stream, collect badges, …
- Spectators: watch live stream, follow marked favourite runners and/or leaderboard, post about the race on social media, check results, read additional information, …
Of course we are happy if you tell friends or relatives along the course or at home about this app! You can recommend it app in the “Social“ category.
Using the other “Social“ buttons we can share your moments of the race with us and other users. Always post with koelnmarathon via Facebook Messenger (to Talk to Walter), Instagram or twitter. Your message will automatically be displayed on our # social wall and reach a greater audience!
By the way: As a runner you can upload your profile picture via the edit link in your confirmation of participation.

Live stream with 4 camera perspectives for own choice
On October 7, 2018 we will stream live about our race from 8:25 a. m. to approximately 1:45 p. m.
For the first time you can become your own director and choose among 4 different camera perspectives!
The Conference (Konferenz) channel will be moderated by Tobias Ufer from the finish (in German only) and will cover all facets of the race: top athletes, recreational runners but also pictures from the city of Cologne, carnival, spectators and hot spots along the course. Some celebs will also come and talk about the race.
Hobby runners will be shown via the Mass sport (Breitensport) channel.
The camera located at Rudolfplatz will display the linchpin of our race. It will be there where all runners will pass three times!
And you can capture the emotional moments of the finishers and share their excitement via the camera in the Finish (Ziel)!
Note: In the Mass sport, Rudolfplatz and Finish perspectives the commentated audio track from the Conference channel will be heard.

For the third time already we will award your best social media posts about our race displayed on our # social wall!
And this is how is works: Post your beautiful moments from the race with #koelnmarathon and #runner or #spectator (depending on what you are) via Facebook Messenger (to Talk to Walter), Instagram or twitter!
All pictures and videos on our #social wall from October 6, 7 and 8 will be considered.
In the week after the race the jury made of our top-class anchormen Tom Bartels (finish), amiaz (course and finish) and Sascha Kalupke start and Neumarkt) together with our social employee Sebastian will select the best entries!

NEW: stress-free car navigation with waze
Note: We recommend to travel by bus, tram or suburban railway to the Running.EXPO and the race!
In case you decide to use the car anyway please consider this: For the first time we will offer the car navigation via waze, the community-based map and traffic app with real-time navigation, this year!
Your benefit: We will include all street closures with closure times in this app.
Should you use the app on the race weekend all closures will be considered and you will be navigated around them!
